I recently started getting these random ads popping up when I didn't even have a
browser open. (I have cable)
I did some research and ended up installing Ad Aware, which is freeware. It located
no less than seventeen registry entries, files, cookies, and even a complete directory
that were responsible, and with its assistance, I deleted them and then updated my
firewall. I've also pretty much completely denied Internet Explorer any access
to the 'net at all. (I use Netscape...)
The directory that Ad Aware found was called "cydoor" and this is the "parking area"
for ads that Cydoor.com sends to your computer if you are using certain Cydoor enabled
software.
I would love to see a DOS attack on Cydoor, or better yet, I would love to see all
its owners found guilty of child pornography charges, as there is NOTHING, and I
mean NOTHING, that I hate more than internet spam ads!
Hell isn't unpleasant enough for these clowns.
Get Ad Aware and clean house!
