My suggestion would be to reformat your HD*, use a partition software to set up your
HD and then re-instal XP.
*Reformating your HD will blow away any and all info on the drive, so store all files
you wish to retain on a removable media before formating.
This is a barbaric solution to your problem, but if you want a clean drive and clean
install...........
