Hi, 

While I'm not sure what caused the search link to be
missing from your start menu, here are steps to get it
back: 

- right-click on the 'Start' button
- select 'Properties'
- under the 'Start Menu' tab, press the 'Customize...'
button
- under the 'Advanced' tab, scroll down in the 'Start
menu items' window
- select the checkbox for 'Search'
