I am guessing you have 4 DIMM slots, and just added a fourth? Many motherboards can not supply enough power to run 4 DIMMs even though they have 4 slots. If you know the make and model of your motherboard, you might see if there are reviews for it on www.tomshardware.com. That's where I think I have read about this problem - I have not experienced it.
