I have very similar trouble with christiaan,
I used crossover cable between two win98,
sharing the internet through high speed internet(Road Runner) is ok,
Sharing files and printer is ok.
now I try to connect a win 98 (direct connect to internet) with winXP home
But some times internet sharing works, sometimes not
XP can see the computer name of win98, but can not
access it.
win 98 can not see XP in the networkneighborhood,
so can not share printer. Printer is connected to win98
