A friend of mine just arrived with the answer to my problem. He brought over a 56k US Robotics modem. After installation/setup (and with four pairs of crossed fingers) it worked! I wonder if it was because the two Archtek modems were sharing some of the same driver/resources? Oh well. Thanks for reading........
