Tried to do a system restore, but my restore points don't go back far enough (and
they're set at max.
Also, in my XP Home version sysoc.inf is located at C:\WINDOWS\inf\sysoc.inf.
In addition to checking "Show hidden and system files" in Folder Options, I had to
uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" just below it to find sysoc.inf --
even in a search.
Good luck.
As for where to store the copy -- wherever you can find it if you need it! (Think
about it.)
