I have a similar problem with XP Pro. When useing Power Quest Drive Image 2002 and
Partion Magic 8. Can create an image of XP Pro. But when restoring, the image it
boots to the XP splash screeen and lingers a bit longer than normal and then switches
to a blue screen withe message: Autochk program not found skipping AUTOCHECK
Lingers for a moment then switches to a darker blue screen with the following message:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly
with a status of
0xc000003a (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down
I have persued this matter with both Microsoft and PowerQuest.
PQ had me run a debug program and ship my image disks to them. Results inconclusive.
MS seems to think it is a hardware issue.
Although I prefer PQ Drive Image I have bought and am useing Norton Ghost for system
backup images.
No problems with Norton Ghost, can create and restore images at will.
Bear in mind please, other than what is mentioned above, my XP Pro functions perfectly.
Can make clean installs with perfect boot cycles.
Also, I run Win 2000 Pro on a seperate partition on this same computer and encounter
non of the above with w2K Pro.
