QuickTimePro 6 - no disk error

I recently tried to view a .mov from CD-ROM on my XP home version box and recieved
an error dialog box:

c4: qttask.exe - No Disk
There is no disk in drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk0\DRO.

and now, everytime I attemp to open a .mov file (either by double clicking the file,
or using file>open in QuickTime) I receive the error dialog box:

[filename.mov]: QuickTimePlayer.exe - No Disk
There is no disk in drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk0\DRO.

After selecting cancel or continue 4 or 5 times, the dialog box stops popping up
and QuickTime loads and plays the selected file.

I use QuickTime frequently and this is the first trouble I have ever had with it
(stemming from the initial incident of double clicking a file from a CD-ROM). Subsequently
I have deleted and reinstalled the software multiple times but the problem persists.

Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
