Hard Drive Flamed! Monday, April 7, 2003 at 8:32 am Windows XP Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by surfrider (7 messages posted) Yep, last night, I turn on my PC, and I hear a "click click click" from my HD. So I am assuming its toast. No worries I've been waiting to upgrade anyways. Anyways heres my question. I am going to buy a fresh, full copy of XP Home and a new hard drive. I have installed NT, 2K, ME, 98/98SE all to "clean" hard drives. But I have never installed XP to one. If I install the new HD and put the XP CD into the CD ROM, will it boot straight to the installation like the others I have mentioned? Also, what do I do it doesnt boot to the XP CD? I'm assuming it will boot to DOS, so what would the command be to install from DOS? Hopefully, I can get some feedback sometime today as Im buying this stuff today at lunch. Thanks in advance.
