Matt, I have the EXACT same configuration Dell 8250, and I have experienced the EXACT
same symptoms you have described. Standby worked fine for a few months, then suddenly,
the fan would not shut off. I have suspected it may be related to the Radeon 9700
Pro card. I have not yet called Dell tech support, but Im wondering if you ever
found a solution?????
