I don't know how many of you still have this problem, but I found a fix that seems
to work. Go here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314073....
Follow the instructions and use a print driver for an MFC 9700.
I have a MFC 8300 and tried a generic printer driver and then to the MFC 6000 driver.
This printed documents with simple graphics (have not tried anything big yet), but
the only DPI option was 300x300. Took a stab at the MFC 9700 and got a 600x600 option.
My letterhead jpg in Word looked crisp. You obviously loose plenty of functionality,
but at least you don't loose a network printer.
Oh, my 8300 is hooked to an old 95 print server and the xp station is a laptop.
I had to update the xp driver list so that the 9700 showed up. I am semi-happy now.
I would however, think twice about another Brother MFC solution.
