Ok,
had a similar experience,but i never actually had a password!!!!!!!!!1however the
only resolve was to reinstall xp, not wishing to lose my existing data i chose to
boot off the cd,hit the "install windows", on the prompt"xp does not recommend installing
a further copy on the C:\WINDOWS" I set up a new directory called C:\windows2 and
let the install go...well pc booted up showing dual boot,launched into c:\windows2
and presto everything there intact except e-mail stuff,reload of programmes...and
back in business
