I am having a similiar problem to the one described here, but I haven't been able
to fix it yet by any of the methods suggested. The strangest part is, the problem
keeps coming and going - it's happened four times now.
On the "Appearance" tab, under "Windows and buttons", for some reason only "Windows
Classic style" is listed - I normally use "Windows XP style". "Windows XP" *is* listed
under themes, but selecting and applying it still does not use the new style windows
and buttons.
The Themes service is set to "Automatic", and I have all the required files in "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes".
I have also tried re-installing these files.
The problem occured earlier today, but has now gone away, again. Restarting does
not fix the problem, the Windows XP style just seems to come back into the list randomly.
I checked an hour ago and it wasn't there. I checked ten minutes ago, without having
restarted or even used the PC in the mean time, and it was back.
If anyone has any idea what may be causing this please let me know. Thanks!
