I am using a Sony Vaio PCV-RX550 with Home XP 1.5GHz 512 MB RAM 80 GB Hard Disk.
I recently went to start the computer and the message I received was that "windows
could not start file missing 'Windows Root >\system 32\NTOSKRNL.EXE' Re-install copy
of file"
I use Norton's Antivirus 2003 so I'm hoping it's not a virus. I would be grateful
if someone could assist me in how I find a copy of this file and how I would re-install
it. All I get is a blank screen now. I can access a dos prompt when using the recovery
disks but not sure how to proceed.
Also if and when I get this problem solved I would be interested to know what I could
use to back up my MS Outlook and photo's on my hard drive. So in future I could just
use the recovery disks.
Thanks again for your help in this matter.
