I agree, you need to edit BOOT.INI. In particular look at was is below the line
with "[operating systems]". Each line thereafter repreents one potential boot choice.
Each can be a separate operating system, or they can be variations of the same operating
system. To clarify the last statement: I have XP, XP safe mode, and the XP recovery
console as individual boot choices. However, it would be more common to have something
like XP, and 98.
