Hi folks Well we had some major success today! We are running XP Pro on both our machines, and have had some difficulties getting 'drag and drop' to work on one of them, whilst the other, which has the same hardware CD-RW drive, did not allow access to the discs, and reported that there was no space on them. So 07/06/03 - I made a note of the Nero and In-CD settings on one machine, and duplicated them on the other. I think one key difference may be turning off the "Enable CD recording on the drive" option which is found on the 'Recording' tab in the CD drive Properties window. [I discovered from the MS Knowledge base that this appears to be responsible for Windows using the 'Staging Post' system of holding the files prior to copying them.] Next I uninstalled both Nero and In-CD from the troublesome machine; and the installed the Nero v5 disc that I had, and then ran the update which I had downloaded from the Nero site. I did not install the old In-CD version from the disc. I simply ran the new version that I had downloaded. The files are called: Nero 55100.exe and INCD35191UP.exe In-CD v3.51.91 and Nero 5.5.10.0 were now freshly installed on the troublesome machine, just like the ok one; and yet to our frustration, we still had the immovable red arrow on the In-CD icon in the sys tray, and the drive properties said the disk had no available space on it, and we could not add anything to a newly formatted disc. However, I noticed whilst uninstalling the old versions of Nero and In-CD, that the troublesome machine had something that the ok one did not!!! ie: Adaptec UDF Reader Software, which I do not recall ever installing on it. When WE REMOVED THE ADAPTEC UDF READER SOFTWARE using 'Add/Remove Programs' in Control Panel, and re-booted, the wonderful little green arrow appeared in the In-CD icon in the sys tray, and we found there was space to write to on our CD-RW disc. Drag and drop now works fine on both our machines!!! My friend has the same versions of In-CD and Nero installed, and yet he has problems with drag and drop on his laptop, and so I will be checking to see whether he has Adaptec hiding somewhere on his machine. Good luck to all! Regards Paul
