Well, then you didn't look very hard, did you? let me quote the following: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article07-014
"Many DOS games simply won't run under Windows 9x/Me, and I'll bet you'll never find
one that will run under Windows 2000 or XP. Here are some tips: "
First of all, of course DOS games work unnder 95/98. If not directly from windows,
then simply booting to the DOS prompt usually remedies this problem. Hell even IN
WINDOWS you can specify in the program properties to "run in DOS mode."
And this article I was referring to states quite explicitly, and quite incorrectly,
"I'll bet you'll never find one that will run under Windows 2000 or XP." This is
the bull I'm referring to. The author had quite obviously never tried it himself,
or he'd know that (at least of the sampling I tried) 70-80% of DOS games work just
fine under XP. I was running Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem 3D, raptor, One Must Fall,
Othello, Atom, Ataxx (though for some reason it wouldn't accept keyboard input for
moves even though it did accept keyboard input to select the difficulty level, and
I'm sure with time I can troubleshoot that out). About the only program I like that
I haven't YET gotten to run is Tyrian. I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of finding
the right settings, just like Duke 3D, which wouldn't run until set to 320X200 in
its setup program, now runs beautifully. Kinda' funny how fast it runs with a G3
Ti200 128MB card in the machine. ;o]
Anyway, I was simply pointing out that someone hadn't done their homework when posting,
kinda' like you... Hmm, next time, read the article I'm referring to before misinformedly
flaming. Thank you. And it was a fairly major article directly under "troubleshooting"
link on the left "Why doesn't my extra cool DOS game work in windows?"
