I found that the above worked for me. I have noticed the status bar often being
absent and then in later windows present. I had realised it is because when you
*close* an Internet Explorer window, it saves the state of a window as being the
default desired behaviour - and any number of sites (including this one) use popup
windows with the status bar turned off. However, the fixes described above worked
for me. Check you've followed every step listed.
