You didn't state the extension, or error message.
Here's one of the last ditch alternatives:
open a command Window
open task manager and kill explorer
go back to the command winow and delete the file with a DOS command
then go back to task manager and restart explorer
I've never tried that, but have seen it posted a few times as a solution. But I've
never had the non-deletable file problem.
