Right click on the setup installation file, click properties, click on compatibility, check the box, set compatibility for win98/me or win NT (sp5), disable visual themes and advanced text features and then try to install. This often, but not always will allow the installation program to run properly. Also make sure you are logged on to XP as an administrator.
