I have a few suggestions,
1: make sure your system is not overheating. check the cpu/heatsink for dust, also
check the graphics card, if it has a fan, make sure its working. Also make sure the
power supply's fan is working.
2: whenever changing video drivers, always uninstall the old driver and reboot before
installing the new driver.
3: If you have added any devices recently, and/or have lots of devices installed,
your power supply unit might not be outputting enough juice. I would reccomend a
350WATT supply as an absolute minimum for pentium4's and AMD Athlons. ANTEC makes
great powersupplies.
To me, it really sounds like a heating/power problem.
you also might want to post at www.tomsharware.com, there are many knowledgeble people
there.
