Here's a challenge for you. There is a product called VMWare, that will allow you 
to run Windows (not sure you can do XP though) from a Linux window. I'm not techie 
enough to understand it. One of the Linux guys where I work demo'd it for me. My 
son, who is a very recent CS grad, is looking at doing it as well, although he's 
got 5 computers as it is, so I'm not sure why he would want to do that.

Also it doesn't take much to run Linux well. You can pickup a "slow" P2 for about 
$100.
