I recently upgraded from Win 98 to XP, and my Creative AWE 64 ISA sound card is recognized,
drivers are loaded for it, but every media playback program (e.g. Windows media player)
hangs, I dont have any system sounds and my CD player wont play audio CDs. However,
when I plug my guitar and preamp into the "line-in" jack on the card, that comes
through the speakers just fine...same with the mic. I disabled onboard sound, do
I have to disable onchip sound as well? (in BIOS)? Some reports say XP wont support
ISA cards, others say the opposite. Has anyone been able to solve a problem like
this? Also, many of my older programs, such as games, recording studio software etc.
cant even be installed, and crash the whole system. Any hints?
