This thread was initially about Outlook XP, not Outlook Express. unfortunately Outlook
cannot be modified as easily as Outlook Express. in fact, as the initial question
indicated, it is impossible to simply go thru tools-->options to change Outlook XP,
hence the need to modify the Registry settings.
