Thanks to all of you that contributed to this issue. I am happy to report that I
can once again play my favorite games that start with Autoplay.
I was having the same issues and did the following combination approach, based on
everyone's advice above:
1. Backed up registry (duh ;)
2. Followed June 27 step-by-step guide from Ali to remove all entries of "NoDriveTypeAutoRun"
(I had them all over with all different settings possible!). Rebooted. Still not
working.
3. Followed registry editing instructions in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article -
330135. Also, uninstalled drivers for CDRW/DVDRW and Zip 250. Rebooted. Windows reinstalled
the drivers. FIXED!!!
So you know, I was using Xteq Systems X-Setup (which overall I think is an excellent
program and highly recommend!!). However, I think a setting (bug?) may have incorrectly
altered my registry and later changing the setting within X-Setup appartently didn't
do any good. Also, adjusting the AutoPlay settings in TweakUI didn't seem to have
any effect. I had to do it the "old fashioned" way...
Thanks again!
Mike
