Okay... same problem here. Trying the fix above. Crossing fingers. For the record,
a system restore to a week before the problem started didn't help, but you can stop
your computer from restarting by going to...
controll panel - administrative tools - services - remote procedure call (RPC) -
properties - recovery - set all three options to "take no action"
You will still get the generic host error, but it will not shut you down until you
click close, so you can just move it out of the way while you apply a fix.
