I can help you solve half of the problem - restarting.
When the error occur, the application svchost.exe stops processing. (There are four
svchost.exe, two used by system, one by network, another by local). The one that
shuts down is used by system. It's called "Remote Procedure Call." Your system restarts
because your system sets it to restart itself when this application fails. You can
change this setting by going to Control Panel\Administrative Tools\Services, find
the "Remote Procedure Call" (not the locator), right click -> properties -> recovery
-> change the settings to "Restart the service" instead of restart your computer.
I am sorry that I cannot give you to solve the root of the problem which I have too.
Microsoft explains that its the old HP printer driver that's making the trouble.
Anyway, good luck.
