hi
i've got the same problem. after disabling the RPC service there's no way to start
it again. the menu is dead and you cannot run it (error 1058). also, i cannot install
a patch by microsoft, because somehow cryptographic services on my comp have been
disabled mysteriously. of course you cannot enable them again (error 1068 appears).
i'm stucked... furhtermore, as i cannop drag/drop/copy/paste i cannot move some important
data to another partition and then format the c: drive afterwards, i've got to take
the HD out and go to some friend of mine to make a backup. of course, burning a cdr
in this state is impossible...
ah, you can see the toolbar with the "start" button, just right-click on the very
edge of the screen (depending on where your toolbar was) and choose any toolbar from
the top menu, then drag the short line up, like the toolbar has been hidden. hiope
it helps
best
