First I have to say that all of you have been a HUGE help in giving directions on
how to remove this "annoyance". My friend got a virus on her computer last week
(w32spybot/no fixing hers, she screwed it up bad), I found one on my computer last
night and this morning when I got to work a co-worker found it on hers(w32blaster).
What did we all have in common, a music download site (2 of them being KaZaa).
You can bet I removed it immediately. I was able to get my computer to stop doing
a System Shutdown following all of your instructions. First off, it shut down my
Automatic Live Updates on Norton Anti-Virus. Because I did a scan and found nothing.
I then got the new updates and it found 29 infected files from the W32.Spybot.worm
virus. I was able to remove 28 of them with no problem. When it found an infected
file msconfig35.exe the quaratine and delete options both failed. I found that the
file should be located at c:\\WINNT\system32\msconfig35.exe........went there and
found nothing. I did a complte search on my computer and it came back with nothing.
I tried the ctrl>alt>delete and the box comes up real quick and disappears. I have
used the patch from microsoft for the RPC thingy and the patch from symantec for
the w32spybot. I have hit a roadblock and don't know what to do next. If any of
you have any other suggestions or resultions........I'm listening! Thanks in advance
for all of your help!
