Okay I did some more poking around and found these two pages:

a page explaining the worm and giving some resources for fixing it/learning more.
and
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html
the free symantec program for removing the worm from your computer.
If anyone else has any other ideas, please let me know - thanks!
