kk: you have just been infected with the famous worm called Blaster a.k.a. LovSan.
there are three steps to recovery;
the first step is to keep your browser from restarting;
while offline, click Start, Run, type: services.msc
and press the Enter key.
scroll down to Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and right-click it, select Properties,
Recovery tab,
in all three failure boxes change the setting from "Restart the Computer" to "Restart
the Service".
Note: some folks prefer to use "Take No Action".
click Apply, OK.
the second step is to restore your RPC service by installing the Microsoft fix at
the first link below (after your text).
the third step is to get rid of the worm by installing the fix from Symantec at the
second link below.
