Both XP SP1a and the RPC DCOM patch fail for due to the 'update.inf' problem. Removed Catroot2 dozens of times. I am working this problem, please tell me if you have any similarities to the following: Compaq Presario 8000 desktop OLD BIOS (never been updated) Win XP Home (no SP) Norton Anti-Virus (installed but not running when attempting update) System Restore TURNED OFF I have seen posts about this same problem with Sony Vaio machines.
