XP has a command-line registry editor. I remember doing the same thing for my brother's
computer. This doesn't fix the virus, though, only the RPC problem.
The program "reg" is found under \Windows\System32 folder. @ the command line, just
type "reg /?" (without the "") for a list of options.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>reg add HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Ro
ot\Legacy_RPCSS\0000 /v CSConfigFlags /t REG_DWORD /d 4
just do the above. Start, Run, copy paste the above, and enter. Before restarting,
goto the services.msc program and start RPC.
Reply if this helps.
