For example if the User on the XP machine is Administrator, you have to make sure that you have, and are logged in as Administrator on the other OS. So with that in mind, as long as the two computers can see each other in network neighberhood, they should be able to communicate properly. I.E. ICS, File and Print Sharing, and so on.
