The registry is about the same as the old *.ini files that Windows used. It tells 
windows all the details about your computer and available programs, hardware etc. 
If something gets messed up, your computer may do anything from have a brief hangup 
to refusal to start. It might be best to have Spybot skip the registry until you 
have learned more about it. May of us do that or restrict registry scan to occasional 
runs. Spybot will give you added advice on this subject also.
