It can happen with any .avi, and is related to the file being 'linked' to explorer
for the purpose of showing further information if required.
The well known method of deleting the registry key works, but it is a permenant solution
and removes the further information which i sometimes require.
I use a utility that lets you shut down the task in explorer (close handle) and then
delete the file, with no permenant changes.
The utility can be found here.................
Process Explorer for Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP/S2K3

So for example, if I had a file named film.avi that i couldnt delete, I open up this
util, search for 'film', when it shows the results, right click it, select 'close
handle' and then delete the file, and its gone.
Hope this helps,
Neil
