Right, this is due to the XP handler. But the easy way is to wait around 30 seconds.
Then, XP will release the handle and you'll be able to delete it.
Better solutions are:
1) Open a Windows Explorer and go to Tools\Folder Options\View\Display file size
information in folder tips
2) Use Messa's utility to delete the handler
