I just stumbled upon this thread about 10 minutes ago trying to find a fix to a
problem I was having.. Task Manager wouldn't stay open for more than a second, regedit
wouldn't open, and Spybot S&D wouldn't either. I kept opening Task Manager to try
and see if there was anything there that I didn't recognize. Since it stayed open
for only a split second it was hard, but I noticed 'Svchosts.exe' . Now normally
that program is 'svchost.exe' without the s isn't it? I noticed that both versions
were there, so the 'svchosts.exe' looked awful fishy. I used my godlike clicking
powers to open task manager and amazingly end the svchosts.exe before task manager
closed. It took me about 20 tries but finally I was able to do it fast enough.. and
what do you know? Task Manager stayed open. Reg edit opened also. (;
I went to my system32 folder and viewed icons by date and guess what? The svchosts.exe
file was one of the three newest there... so I deleted it. I used Spybot to delete
that command from my startup as well.
Hope this helps. If it does then please let me know at AuraPainter@hotmail.com
I'm a layman, I want to know if I have been of any use.
