I had tried using the suggested host code in my first attempt to set this up and that allowed me to access files on the 2K and 98 computers from the xp computer, but it would not work the other round, to allow the xp' s files to be accessed. I should also clarify one point that could make a difference, in that all the computers are set up to have independent internet access, as they are not normally connected up as a network (the XP computer is a laptop)
