I had the same problem that no one seems to have the answer too, but after lots of
digging around on the net, this is what I found and it worked for me.
Insert your xp cd in drive and dont do anything with what comes up on auto start,
now go to run and type in "SFC/scannow" with out the quotes. Restart your machine
and go to appearance tab and wallah, xp style is once again an option.
