id think about using windows own Firewall (removes the need for your external one having to load at start up) load it by right clicking your network interface of network connections and find firewall (i think in advanced) and start it up, it starts with all ports locked down. And possibly getting a less memory hungry antivirus product like sophos www.sophos.com Or else upgrade your machine with Sata 150 drives and faster cpu and memory. Otherwise defrag your hd, get another 256 meg of ram i use 1024 and found that anything less just is not enough for me. and see about tidying up your machine so you have less loading finally if you hate waiting for windows to boot.....dont turn it off! :P
