Multiple Monitors in Device Manager.

In device manager I am showing 2 default monitors, 2 plug and play monitors and 2 NEC Multisync Fe 700+ monitor drivers are listed. This causes my monitor not to respond at times when I restart my computer. At first I was suspecting an IRQ conflict, or the software of my new video card. So I tried my wife's NEC Sync Monitor, and only 1 NEC driver is displayed. I'm suspecting a bad Monitor that really does not make sense. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

XP pro with service pack 1
512 ddr ram
ATI Radeon 9600 pro video card
ATI Radeon drivers installed from www.ati.com
Asus AMD Athlon A7V8X-X motherboard
