Interesting (and scary) addition to the Gator problems:
I was at a client's house, and every time I come over to work on their computers,
I have to sweep for spyware and always find many. Gator is always a culprit.
Something strange happened this time though. The spybot sweeper softare I use tells
me it can't delete a specific folder, and I should do so through Windows Explorer.
The folder is c:\Program Files\Common Files\GMT . When I went to delete it, the
system froze, and I couldn't even CTRL-ALT-DELETE to End Task. The whole system
stays frozen for about 10 minutes, then I get a dialogue box telling me that Drive
C: is not format, do I wish to format now. WHAT THE HELL IS PROTECTING THIS FOLDER???
I couldn't even delete this folder via a CMD prompt. I tried everything. Even
did a registry search for "gmt". It return about a billion entries, all unrelated
to this folder.
Has anyone else seen this? Any suggestions? I'm 99% sure it's related to Gator/Gain.
