It's a mystery... When I got my laptop, I removed the hidden DELL partition, formatted the HD, and installed XP on a 100% empty system. Boot seq is CD, HD, with floppy all the way at the bottom of the list. The computer has never ever seen a floppy disk. But the floppy drive grinds as soon as the desktop loads and has been doing so since BEFORE I installed any other software. So something in XP must be looking for a floppy. But what could it be?
