Thank you all for your input. This finally got rid of the annoying System32 problem
(also on a Dell with the Audigy 2 soundcard). One thing I found, which was entertaining--rather
than delete the key, I replaced it with the new key. System32 did not appear, but
the Audigy 2 welcome window did. I clicked the "do not show again" box and closed
the window. When I then checked my registry, the key was totally gone--neither the
original or the replacement were there. So I added the replacement key back in,
restarted, and voila--there is the Audigy 2 welcome window again. This time, before
I closed it, I checked the registry, and the key was there. I then checked the "do
not show again" box and closed the window. I then closed and opened regedit again,
and the key was gone. So I opened the Audigy 2 welcome window again (from the start
menu), and closed, the opened, the registry again--the key was there again!
So, basically, whenever you open the Audigy 2 welcome window (although why you would
want to do that is beyond me), it adds the key back to the registry. As long as
you check the "do not show again" box and close the window, the key disappears from
the registry.
Fun and games!!
