Try going to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player.aspx
and downloading the media player 9 install file. After you got that, install that,
then reboot your system.
After your back in your wunderful world of windows run that same command again.
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %SystemRoot%\inf\wmp.inf,Uninstall
That should do it. If it doesn't then the problem lies deeper and who knows, it could
just be a poltergeist toying with you. If you really want to throw some holy water
at it you could whip out your trusty you know what... NO, not your bible, your windows
xp setup cd, and reinstall windows. That all depends on how much you hate your media
demon player.
As for going back to win2k, I wouldn't suggest that. I always just make my XP look
like 2k by getting rid of all the ugly blue BS. (And
a bunch of other tweaks, most of them I've written about on my website.)
