I agree with the "'restore back to before you installed Norton."' But whatever you
do, DON'T download Adware, Spyware or Spybot. Many Users on this XP site use thoughs
applications and three-times more have serious problems with them. Fixing an OS
problem with those applications is NOT proper troubleshooting. It's like buying
a car with 50 options and have 20 fail, so you trade in and get a car with 100 options.
What's wrong with this picture?
If Restore Back doesn't help, then boot to the Options Menu and select Safe Mode
again. This time click on your Start button, select Run and type in MSCONFIG. To
see what to do in MSCONFIG, go to the site I have provided below. But what you are
after is to eliminate as many applications as possible that start during the boot
process. This is done through the "Selective Startup" option within MSCONFIG. This

Before doing the above, uninstall your trial version of Norton.
