The PCI device that your computer has found is your scanner. The drivers for it must not have installed correctly, because windows doesn't know what the device is. If you are using the USB cable to connect the scanner, unplug it from your computer. Uninstall all the scanner software and drivers, then reinstall the software. With your computer still powered on, plug in the scanner USB cable. Windows will find new hardware and want to install the drivers for it. Select the install drivers from a specific location. Select the installation CD, then browse to the XP drivers section on the CD. After you click on OK the drivers will be installed and your scanner will be recognized and ready to work.
