That PCI simple comm controller usually refers to a card plugged into a PCI slot
that XP doesn't have a driver for. Are you sure this has anything to do with the
printer problem?

If your USB comes from a PCI card, I suppose it's possible. I never heard of a parallel
port coming from a PCI card, but I suppose it's possible. But from what you describe,
this PCI card would have to have a USB port and a parallel port. Do you have such
a PCI card? If so, you need to find a driver for it, or just ignore it. Toss the
card away if it causes trouble.

If your motherboard doesn't have USB hardware nor does it have a parallel port then
you would need a PCI card, but if you can't find drivers for the card you have, it's
not doing you any good.

Note this driver for the PCI card has nothing to do with a printer.
